 Zoroastrian Anthropological Museum - Kerman

Report by: Mobeydar Mehran Gheibi

I... when I got back to Kerman and was elected as a Zoroastrian Anjoman's member, I started writing official letters to associations, people, organizations and authorities and collecting every thing belonging to Zoroastrians, even so called trashes. I invited many local and country officials and even Moslem clerics to visit our store and requested  help to have a Museum. In 1380-1(2001-2), our museum was registered as Zoroastrian Anthropological Museum. In Tirgan of  1384 (2005), Iran Zoroastrian Museum was opened by Iranian officials. In the ceremony I recited Gatha and our Anjoman's head, and the officials had some speeches.

We have many items from hand written Avesta, paper documents, photos till dishes and agricultural instruments. The oldest item is a cupric fire cup belonging to 1207(1828). We have one girl and boy statues wearing Sedreh & Koshti praying to Ahoora Mazda in front of fire and gas fire as a symbol of sacred fire.

The building had constructed for new Adorian, by donations of  Mrs. Mahin Siyavoshiyan in memory of her late husband Mr. Hormozdyar Oshidarii. But the old building of Adorian was a dedication too, therefore, the new building was allocated  for the Museum. The glass shelves, cabinets, choosing the displayable  items, the order of settings, printing tour maps, leaflets and inviting cards, making and installing cupric name board inside the Adorian's courtyard, Iron name in nearby street are made or done with effort of Kerman Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization and at their cost.

When we have visitors, wearing my white religious cloths and explain the items and aspects of our religion to Iranian and foreign tourists in Persian or English. We have had several thousands visitors in this year (1385), especially in Norooz and Iran University Girls and Boys Students Athletic Olympiads. The last sentence that most of the Iranian visitor say is:" What a good religion and cultural root we had had".
